Go Green - Save Money Seminar at Grand Designs Live

11 May 2010

On Friday 7 May first direct hosted a seminar in the GRANDTheatre at Grand Designs Live.  Chaired by Kevin McCloud, Grand Designs presenter, the seminar featured first direct 's Head of Corporate and Social Responsibility, Michaela Wright; the author of The rough Guide to Green Living, Duncan Clark; and Richard Wood Co-founder of DIYKyoto.

The theme, 'Go Green - Save Money' sought to illustrate how being green as either an individual or as an organisation needn't cost the earth (pun intended!), but in fact can save you money.

Michaela illustrated how first direct as an organisation has reduced its carbon footprint, saved money and engaged its staff into the bargain.  Duncan described how simple changes can really make a difference and Richard with the help of Kevin demonstrated how the Wattson energy monitor can illustrate how much money and energy you can save by, for example, only filling your kettle with as much water as you need.

We invited bloggers and Tweeters to send us their questions and we put these to members of the panel.  Click on the link below to see what they had to say...
